Our recruitment agency client had assisted a firm of solicitors to recruit a new lawyer. The solicitors refused to pay the fee of over £9,000 on the basis that the new staff member was incompetent. They counterclaimed for the cost of putting right his mistakes.
Lovetts applied for summary judgment, citing the client's Terms of Business and key documents that refuted the solicitors' claim that these terms had been varied in their favour.
Judgment was given and was subsequently paid. This shortened the litigation by at least six months and saved Lovetts' client thousands of pounds in legal costs.
